July 2010
Date: Monday, July 19, 2010
Presenter: Dr. Debra Kaden
Description:
We will have a light dinner, socializing, and a presentation by Dr. Debra Kaden on the Alliance for Risk Assessment (ARA)'s workshops on dose-response modeling approaches entitled “Beyond Science and Decisions: From Problem Formulation to Dose Response.” The ARA workshops are focused on developing specific dose-response assessment techniques for moving forward, building on the recent National Academy of Sciences (2009) report on improving risk assessment. The ultimate goal of the workshops is consensus among the participants on a guidance document highlighting key considerations for applying dose-response techniques for common risk assessment applications. The first workshop of the series, held March 2010 in Austin Texas, was devoted to brainstorming about dose-response assessment ideas and the selection of case studies. The second workshop, scheduled to be held in Crystal City VA on October 11-12, 2010, will focus on the developed case studies. The final workshop, building consensus, will be held in the Washington DC area in the Spring of 2011.
